Sustainable agriculture is not solely a technological endeavor, but a social and ecological obligation to provide food security, environmental integrity, and rural development. This study seeks to evaluate the sustainability of agriculture in Luwu Regency, South Sulawesi, by examining the economic, social, and environmental dimensions using a multi-indicator method. The analysis was performed in five communities that exemplify a variety of agricultural circumstances and techniques.
The findings indicate that the overall sustainability level is comparatively equitable across the three parameters. Nonetheless, the efficacy of critical variables, like agricultural output, loan accessibility, and product diversity, continues to pose a challenge. Suboptimal productivity persists in constraining farmers' income, while restricted finance access hampers their capacity to embrace advances. The absence of diversified agricultural goods heightens farmers' susceptibility to market and climatic variations.
The research underscores the pressing necessity to enhance rural funding mechanisms, advance technology extension services, and foster value-added diversification initiatives. These findings are anticipated to guide local government and development stakeholders in formulating more inclusive and resilient agricultural policies. Sustainable agriculture in Luwu transcends mere yields and inputs; it focuses on empowering communities to flourish with dignity and equilibrium.
