Abstract

This bibliometric study examines 264 Scopus-indexed articles from 2006 to 2026 on white pepper using VOSviewer and Excel. Results highlight a 2022 publication peak, with Indonesia (47), China (41), and Malaysia (30) leading global output, alongside significant contributions from the US and Europe. The thematic landscape is currently dominated by production, process, quality, and extraction of white pepper. Other established clusters in white pepper research include essential oils, antioxidant activity, and GC-MS profiling. Future research pathways are encouraged to address critical gaps in authentication, conduct comprehensive physicochemical and sensory evaluations, and perform in-depth investigations into detection limits for ensuring the food safety of whole and ground white pepper and its derivative products. Furthermore, opportunities exist in optimizing both volatile and non-volatile compounds of white pepper in functional food products, as well as addressing the socio-economic challenges faced by farmers.
