Abstract

This title has been presented on Thursday, December 14, 2023 at 16.10-16.20 GMT+7.

The process of transporting livestock can cause stress, which affects physiological conditions and reduces performance. This impact causes the need to carry out a recovery time after transportation. Curcuma is a plant that contains curcumin compounds and essential oils, so it can improve metabolic performance and increase consumption. This study was aimed to evaluate the effects of curcuma in the diet on post-transport recovery of ram. This study used 15 rams of uniform age (19,72±2,06 kg), divided into 3 treatments with 5 groups in a randomized block design. The parameters tested were body weight loss, nutrient consumption, performance, and metabolite blood profile. Data was analyzed using ANOVA (Analysis of Variance) and significantly different treatments were tested with Duncan multiple range test using IBM SPSS 25 software. The results showed that the treatment had no significant effect (p>0,05) on all parameters. The recovery time after 9 days had a significant effect (p<0,01) on glucose, and blood urea nitrogen. The conclusion of this study is adding curcuma up to 2% to diet has not been able to accelerate the recovery yet of post-transport rams.
