Abstract

Diseases caused by microbial infections and cancer globally are still major factors causing death, which until now still growing in Indonesia. Exploration of medicinal materials still needs to be done to find a solution for these diseases, especially from local plants in Indonesia. The purpose of this study was to determine the antibacterial, antioxidant, anticancer potential and secondary metabolites content in lempaung (Baccaurea lanceolate). Lempaung were taken from Bengkulu Province. Maceration is carried out using methanol solvent. Total phenol content (TPC) calculated using the Folin-Ciocalteu, and total flavonoids content (TFC) using aluminum chloride method. Antioxidants by DPPH and ABTS method, antibacterial examined using disc dilution and diffusion, while cytotoxicity against breast and liver cancer cells. Lempaung extract has TPC 11.73±1.44 (mg GAE/g extract) and TFC 5.33±1.27 (mg QE/g extract). The antioxidant content is 638.37±8.21 DPPH (μg/mL) and 891.36±18.37 ABTS (μg/mL). Antibacterial inhibited Eschericia coli, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Staphylococcus aureus and Bacillus subtilis. The cytotoxic activity of cancer cells with inhibitory values for 100 μg/mL test concentration of 19.47 and 15.49 μg/mL for MCF-7 and HepG2 cells. Metabolites profile content in three fractions based on GC-MS analysis showed that the methanol fraction was dominated by Methyl ester and Octadecanoic acid compounds.
