About RUSET

The Sixth International Conference on Rural Socio-economic and Environmental Transformation (RUSET) is an annual event organised by the Department of Communication and Community Development Sciences, IPB University, Bogor. This year’s theme, "Decolonising Development: Rural Sustainability Beyond Technocratic Solutions toward Environmental Justice", aims to facilitate knowledge exchange and research collaboration students, lecturers, researchers, practitioners, and activists from various disciplines, especially Rural Sociology, Communication Science, Human Ecology, and related sciences to advance interdisciplinary dialogue on decolonising development, restoring socio-ecological relations, and envisioning transformative futures rooted in resilience, ethics, and place-based sustainability.

RUSET 2025 is the continuation of the 2024 conference. RUSET 2025 aims to attract more than 50 paper submissions, with international contributions projected to reach 30%.

RUSET 2025 carries the theme "Decolonising Development: Rural Sustainability Beyond Technocratic Solutions toward Environmental Justice".  The seminars will encompass four critical sub-themes, each addressing different facets of rural sustainability and environmental justice:

  1. Communication for Rural Transformation and Sustainable Environment
  2. Population Dynamics, Agrarian Change, and Ecological Resilience
  3. Community Development, Natural Resource Governance, and Rural Sustainability
