Aquaponics is an integrated farming system that combines fish and plant cultivation in a biologically mutually supportive environment. This study aims to examine the application of aquaponics in catfish (Clarias sp.) and melon (Cucumis melo) cultivation as a sustainable agricultural approach. This system utilizes catfish metabolic waste as a source of nutrients for plants, while plants play a role in filtering water to support the quality of life of the fish. The study was conducted using an experimental design with a specially designed aquaponic recirculation system. The parameters analyzed included catfish growth and yield, vegetative growth and melon production, water quality (pH, temperature, ammonia, nitrate, and nitrite), and resource utilization efficiency. The results showed that the aquaponic system was able to increase the productivity of catfish and melon simultaneously with more efficient water use compared to conventional methods. In addition, the integration of these two commodities shows great potential in supporting the Integrated Agricultural Business Model, Zero Waste Fish Farming, and Environmentally Friendly Farming. This study contributes to the development of aquaponic technology as an innovative solution in facing the challenges of food security and climate change.
