Abstract

The agribusiness and livestock sector is one of the sectors that produces large amounts of waste, which is often disposed of without treatment, thus polluting the environment. Organic waste, especially livestock manure, has the potential to be processed into useful products such as new renewable energy, one of which is biogas. Cibitung Wetan Village, Pamijahan District has great livestock and agricultural potential for biogas production and utilization. The community service program carried out by the team of the Department of Physics and the Department of Communication Science and Community Development of IPB University to the Cibitung Wetan Village community, especially sheep farmers, aims to develop a sustainable agriculture and livestock sector that is able to contribute to increasing agricultural production and reducing greenhouse gas emissions. The method of activity implementation is carried out through four main stages, namely socialization, counseling and training in digester making, application of digester technology and mentoring and evaluation. In this program, the IPB team collaborated with the Transfarmers Taruna Tani Group of Cibitung Wetan Village, Pamijahan District in the process of making digesters. It is expected that through this program, the Cibitung Wetan Village community, especially sheep farmers, can optimally utilize the potential of livestock and agricultural waste with digester technology, thus creating a sustainable agriculture and livestock sector, able to increase production, and contribute to reducing greenhouse gas emissions. In addition, collaboration with the Transfarmers Farmer Cadet Group is expected to encourage active community participation in the
manufacture and utilization of household-scale digesters, which in turn can expand the positive impact of this program in the surrounding area.
