Penerapan Teknologi IoT dalam Urban Farming sebagai Solusi Ketahanan Pangan dan Pemberdayaan Pemuda

Food security has become a critical global issue in line with population growth, urbanization, and the limited availability of productive agricultural land. The implementation of modern technologies, such as the Internet of Things (IoT), provides an innovative solution to enhance agricultural efficiency and productivity. A community engagement program under Dosen Pulang Kampung (Dospulkam) IPB 2024 was conducted at SMKS Bhinneka Karya 5 Boyolali with the theme "Inspiring Innovation and Food Security" to introduce the concept of IoT-based Smart Vertical Farming. This program aimed to equip students with the knowledge and skills needed to implement modern agricultural technologies. The Smart Vertical Farming concept combines vertical farming with sensor technology, automated irrigation systems, and data management to optimize space and resources in limited land areas. The program involved 26 students from the Computer and Network Engineering (TKJ) department and was carried out over two days using interactive lectures, hands-on practice, demonstrations, and discussions. Key outcomes included enhanced student understanding of Smart Vertical Farming, technical skills in IoT device installation and configuration, and the successful operation of a system capable of detecting soil moisture and activating automated irrigation. The results of the program demonstrated a high level of enthusiasm among students in learning IoT technology and its potential to support sustainable agriculture. The program not only improved students' technical skills but also fostered awareness of the importance of eco-friendly innovation and efficient resource management. Moving forward, collaboration between schools, industries, and universities is recommended to enrich learning experiences and ensure the sustainability of the project. Through the implementation of Smart Vertical Farming, it is hoped that the younger generation can become agents of change in achieving sustainable food security in the modern era.
