Abstract

Adolescence is a transitional period from childhood to adulthood. During this period, there is a process of physical and psychological development. The physical and psychological changes experienced by adolescents lead to negative body image. In addition, exposure to ideal standards on social media and non-ideal nutritional status can worsen the condition of adolescent body image. This study aimed to analyze the relationship between the intensity of social media use and nutritional status with body image in adolescents at SMAN 1 Pandeglang. The design of this study was cross-sectional, with the number of subjects 30 students obtained by stratified random sampling. Data collection was done through questionnaires and anthropometric measurements. The results showed that most of the subjects had good nutritional status (80%), most of the intensity of social media use was in the heavy user category (57%), and most of the subjects had a positive body image (60%). The results of the Chi-Square test showed that there was no significant relationship between the intensity of social media use and the subject's body image (p>0.05), and there was a significant relationship between nutritional status and the subject's body image (p<0.05).
