Penguatan Kapasitas Peternak Ayam melalui Edukasi Inovasi Pakan Ig-Y dan Kesejahteraan Hewan di Padang Lawas Utara

Abstract

The capacity-building program for chicken farmers through education on Ig-Y feed innovation and animal welfare in Padang Lawas Utara aimed to enhance farmers’ knowledge and skills in implementing healthier, more productive, and sustainable poultry farming practices. This program focused on two main aspects: education on Immunoglobulin Y (Ig-Y)-based feed innovation, which has potential as a functional feed alternative to improve chicken immunity, and the application of animal welfare principles in farm management. The methods included lectures, interactive discussions, and evaluations through pre-tests and post-tests. The evaluation results indicated a significant increase in farmers’ knowledge and awareness regarding Ig-Y feed innovation and animal welfare practices. Therefore, this activity is expected to support the improvement of poultry farm productivity while encouraging the development of more competitive and sustainable farming systems in Padang Lawas Utara.
