Abstract

Program Kemitraan Masyarakat (PKM) aims to increase the added value of coffee husks through community empowerment to improve the productivity of sheep and goat livestock in the Raharja farmer group in Margamulya Village, Bandung, West Java. Coffee husk waste is a plantation by-product that has not yet been optimally utilized, although it has potential to be used as a raw material for livestock feed. This can provide a solution for smallholder farmers by utilizing coffee husk waste as a feed raw material to increase livestock productivity. The results of this program's activities in the Raharja farmer group are increasing the motivation and softskills of farmers in increasing the added value of plantation waste through processing raw materials for animal feed. In addition, this program has increased farmers’ knowledge in utilizing agricultural waste as raw material for feed. Through precision feeding assistance, providing feed containing coffee husk was able to increase livestock productivity with a body weight gain of 52% compared to feeding without coffee husk waste. The sustainability of this program that the Raharja farmer group in Margamulya becomes a pioneer in encouraging the community to collaborate in supplying coffee-husk-based feed. Affordable feed that is available throughout all seasons becomes a feed solution to improve the efficiency of livestock farming in Margamulya and its surrounding areas. This activity has been published in popular media, namely Radar Bogor and Sinar Pagi. This program also involved two students from the Merdeka Belajar Kampus Merdeka program which was converted into 6 credits.
