Internal parasitic infections in sheep pose a significant animal health problem, leading to substantial economic losses for farmers, particularly under humid, unhygienic, and high-density management conditions. To address this issue, the IPB Community Service Program “Dosen Pulang Kampung” was implemented with the objectives of controlling helminth infections in sacrificial livestock and improving community-based waste management practices. The program was conducted over five months across three villages in Pangalengan District, involving the examination and treatment of 146 sheep. Activities included case studies, workshops, medical interventions, and health monitoring, such as fecal egg examinations. Additionally, a waste management initiative was implemented in Lebakwangi Village, Arjasari District, which successfully increased the participation of local women in converting household organic waste into liquid fertilizer. Overall, the program resulted in a reduction in the prevalence of Strongyloides, Trichuris spp., Capillaria spp., and Moniezia spp., and improved farmers’ awareness of hygiene and livestock management practices. Approximately 20% of farmers began making improvements to their rearing environments. These findings demonstrate that targeted education and active participation by farmers are effective strategies for controlling helminth infections in sheep.
