Batu Betumpang Transmigration Area in South Bangka Regency is a strategic zone that plays an important role in strengthening regional food security, increasing community income, and equitable regional development. The development of Leading Commodities in the Batu Betumpang Transmigration Area aims to establish a zonation framework for strategic commodities and formulate development directions that enhance food security and agribusiness competitiveness in South Bangka Regency. The program, conducted from August to December 2025, using a comprehensive methodological approach, including field surveys, Participatory Rural Appraisal (PRA), Focus Group Discussions (FGDs), in-depth interviews, secondary data analysis, spatial mapping using Geographic Information Systems (GIS), commodity prioritization through the Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP), as well as SWOT and value chain analyses. The findings reveal strong heterogeneity in commodity potential across villages, necessitating a zoning model comprising a Food Security Zone focused on rice cultivation, an Agribusiness Development Zone oriented toward oil palm, pepper, horticulture, and fisheries, and a Mix Zone for areas exhibiting dual functional characteristics. The analysis also identifies key challenges, including deteriorated irrigation infrastructure, limited post-harvest capacity, weak local economic institutions, and volatile commodity markets. The study concludes that the development of transmigration areas must adopt an integrated approach that emphasizes improvements in agricultural infrastructure, strengthening of local institutions, commodity downstreaming, and the formulation of a medium-term development roadmap aligned with the national transmigration policy for 2025–2045.
