To implement environmentally and friendly fishing activities and ensure the sustainability of fisheries resources, outreach on the use and construction of Turtle Excluder Device (TED) needs to be conducted for fishermen. This activity was carried out in Kampung Cituis with a total of 25 participants. The activity was conducted in partnership with the Banten Provincial Marine and Fisheries Office. The objectives of this activity was to improve fishermen understanding of the importance of environmentally sustainable fishing practices and enhancing their understanding of the use of the Turtle Excluder Device (TED). Therefore they can shift toward using environmentally friendly fishing gear. The implementation method of the activity was carried out through several stages, namely a literature study, a site survey, and discussions with the Banten Provincial Marine and Fisheries Office and fisherman groups; implementation of the activity through outreach on environmentally friendly fishing practices; design and construction of the Turtle Excluder Device (TED), its operation; as well as monitoring and evaluation. To assess understanding of environmentally friendly fishing practices and the Turtle Excluder Device (TED), the fisherman was interviewed using questionnaire with closed answer methods. The number of respondents interviewed through the questionnaire was 25. The results of this activity indicate that many fishermen wish for jaring arad to be operated legally, as fisherman obtained profitable income from jaring arad fishing operation. Therefore, in order to be able operate jaring arad, fishemen require a device such as the Turtle Excluder Device (TED) to reduce bycatch. To date, fisherman have not used TED due to limited information about it. Through this outreach process, 83% of participants expressed willingness to use TED.
