Abstract

Quail are a type of poultry that produce eggs with high economic value and play an important role as a source of animal protein for the community. The availability of quality feed is a key factor in determining the productivity and quality of quail eggs. The addition of vitamin D to rations is known to contribute to improving production performance, including quail day production (QDP), shell strength, and feed efficiency. This community service activity aims to introduce, implement, and test the benefits of vitamin D supplementation in feed on increasing quail egg productivity among farmer groups in Bogor Regency. The program was implemented through technical assistance to farmer partners, including the provision of three types of training materials, testing the application of vitamin D supplementation, and evaluating participant understanding through pre- and post-tests. Field testing was conducted on 750 quail with two feed treatments: a control ration and a ration supplemented with vitamin D3 at 1.5 g/kg of feed, given to three quail age groups (40 days, 70 days, and 300 days). The results of the activity showed an increase in participant knowledge of 12.63% in training 1, 17.02% in training 2, and 11.11% in training 3, with an average increase of 13.59%. Technically, vitamin D3 supplementation can increase QDP by 1.68%, egg mass production by 0.09%, and feed efficiency by 0.21%. This activity not only strengthens the capacity of farmers but also provides scientific evidence that adding vitamin D3 to feed can be a simple yet effective strategy in increasing the productivity and quality of quail eggs.
