Indonesia is an archipelagic country whose experience extreme rainfall leading to floods annually. Concerning this situation, the Indonesian government through the National Disaster Management Agency initiated the development of Disaster Prevention Dashboard that can be accessed via https://dashboardpencegahan.bnpb.go.id/. The dashboard is an online media-based platform that coordinates the flood hazard early warning system issued by various ministries and/or institutions in Indonesia. The Dashboard provides warnings on possible flood area to the sub-district level with a prediction period of 2 days. The hazard information is generated based on the impact based forecast analysis from BMKG-Signature issued by the Agency of Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics, called in Bahasa Indonesia Badan Meteorologi, Klimatologi, dan Geofisika (BMKG), and threshold analysis using river basin approach issued by the Ministry of Public Works. The Dashboard is expected to assist the related parties for mobilization and preparedness purposes. This idea supports the translation of early warning to early action (EWEA) contributing to disaster risk reduction. The goal is to prevent or minimize casualties and economic impacts of disaster events. The initiative Dashboard will also promote the target of an Early Warning System to raise awareness and endorse public participation in emergencies and disaster preparedness. The dashboard development provides insights and lesson learnt on the aspects that contributed to the effectiveness of EWEA related to disaster risk reduction, namely: 1) required period of prediction (Leadtime) and accuracy, 2) proper methods for dissemination, and, 3) designed plan and actions.
