Abstract

The 2024 "Dosen Pulang Kampung" program conducted by the Institut Pertanian Bogor aims to enhance the skills of teachers and students at SMK Pertanian Pembangunan (SMKN PP) Cianjur through the innovation of filamentous microalgae purification. These microalgae have significant potential as a nutrient-rich raw material for dietary fiber production. The purification process was designed to increase the utility of filamentous microalgae, which were previously limited to use as fish bait. The program included a series of training activities, such as the introduction of filamentous microalgae, visits to local farmers, and practical workshops on producing value-added products like algae-based nori. Engaging 30 community members, 7 students, and supporting staff, the program delivered various outputs, including activity reports, scientific publications, and training modules. The primary outcome was the enhancement of teachers' and students' skills in utilizing filamentous microalgae as a raw material for food products. The main challenge faced was the limited capacity of drying equipment, which was mitigated by operational adjustments and the application of a rapid drying method. This program aligns with SDG Goal 4, particularly in skill enhancement to support the economic sustainability of partners.
