Abstract

Sheep are livestock that are widely farmed by the farmers of Jatisari Village, Kedungreja District, Cilacap Regency. The sheep farming system in this area is in the form of traditional farming. One aspect that can be improved in the existing livestock system in the village is the provision of feed supplemented using herbs. One herbal plant that can be used is beluntas leaves (Pluchea indica). A total of 15 sheep were divided into 4 treatment groups. Groups were differentiated based on the concentration of Pluchea indica flour in feed, namely 0%, 2%, 4%, 8%. Animals were given feed treatment for 35 days. The results showed that the feed added with 4% Pluchea indica flour was able to reduce blood cholesterol levels significantly (p<0.05). Glucose levels between groups were not significantly different (p>0.05). The conclusion of this research is that the feed added with 4% Pluchea indica flour is the best formulation that can reduce blood cholesterol levels.
