Abstract

Agro Edu Wisata Organik (AEWO) Mulyaharja, located in Mulyaharja Village, South Bogor, is an agro-edu tourism destination focusing on producing organic and healthy rice. Based on test results, healthy rice has been proven to be free from chemical pesticides, reinforcing its quality claims. To support sustainable production, community engagement activities have been conducted, including training on sanitation and hygiene, as well as innovations in packaging and labelling. The sanitation and hygiene training aims to raise workers' awareness of the importance of cleanliness throughout the production process. Using an integrated approach involving lectures, demonstrations, and hands-on practice, the training improved workers’ knowledge and skills in applying hygiene standards. Additionally, vacuum packaging and informative labelling have been implemented to enhance the appeal and quality of healthy rice products. Evaluations show that vacuum packaging effectively preserves product quality, while attractive labels serve as promotional tools to support AEWO Mulyaharja’s marketing efforts. However, the higher production costs associated with vacuum packaging pose challenges in maintaining competitive pricing in the market. Further research is needed to identify cost-effective packaging materials and explore new market opportunities. Moreover, the use of natural pesticides is recommended to control pests without compromising environmental sustainability. These efforts not only improve the quality and marketability of healthy rice but also serve as a model for developing organic agriculture in other regions. AEWO Mulyaharja thus plays a vital role in promoting sustainable agriculture and empowering local communities.
