Cibanteng Village faces significant challenges in managing food waste. Each household in every neighborhood produces approximately 965.65 kg of food waste per year, accumulating to 319 tons per neighborhood per year. If not properly managed, this food waste has the potential to generate methane gas, one of the main contributors to global warming. To address this issue, one solution proposed is the utilization of Black Soldier Fly (BSF), which aligns with the 12th Sustainable Development Goal on responsible consumption and production. Additionally, the use of vacant land through urban farming has been considered as an alternative to strengthen food security. This community service program involves two farmer groups: Kebon Kopi Mandiri Farmer Group, which focuses on BSF cultivation, and Pabuaran Hijau Farmer Group, which focuses on organic farming. The program is carried out in three stages: socialization, training, and mentoring. The training includes business management, urban farming, organic farming, and BSF cultivation. To support the success of the program, agricultural irrigation using sprinkler technology and BSF houses have been built to increase production. The sustainability of the program is being pursued through partnerships between universities, village governments, and the Village-Owned Enterprises to strengthen the local agricultural ecosystem. With this approach, it is hoped that the issues of food waste and food security in Cibanteng Village can be addressed optimally.
