Penerapan Smart Dropbox Berbasis Internet of Things (IoT) untuk Pengelolaan Sampah Plastik: Studi Kasus di Kota Medan

The issue of plastic waste management remains a primary focus in the city of Medan. This highlights the importance of innovation in the implementation of the Smart Dropbox tool based on the Internet of Things (IoT).
This technology enables users to recycle plastic waste more easily and effectively. The process of sorting waste,
specifically plastic bottles, begins with inserting the plastic bottle into the device, which will automatically detect
and convert it into points that can be redeemed for cash through an application. The research method involves
field observations, the creation and testing of the Smart Dropbox tool, as well as surveys of the community in the
Sunggal Indah Complex, Medan. The results show that the implementation of this tool increases community awareness and understanding of the importance of waste sorting. Survey data indicates a significant improvement
in waste sorting behavior after the activity, proving that the use of IoT technology can promote positive changes
in plastic waste management. The implementation of the Smart Dropbox is expected to be a sustainable solution
to address plastic waste issues and build public awareness of environmental responsibility.
