Abstract

This study aims to examine the effectiveness of the "PELUK" board game as an intervention medium in enhancing the cognitive aspects of children with mild intellectual disabilities (mild mentally disabled children) at SLB Negeri Ungaran. The research method used a quantitative approach with a repeated measures design, where the same research subjects were observed at several different time points (repetitions) before and after the intervention. Cognitive aspect data were collected using a Likert-scale questionnaire instrument to measure responses and validate changes in behavior or ability in each repetition. Data analysis was carried out to observe the significant gap or difference in scores between repetitions, reflecting an increase in ability after the application of the "PELUK" game. The results showed a significant and consistent increase in cognitive aspect scores in the research subjects from the first repetition to the last repetition. This increase indicates that the "PELUK" board game is effective as an engaging and interactive learning aid to stimulate thinking skills and basic understanding in children with mild intellectual disabilities. The conclusion of this study confirms that the "PELUK" board game medium can be recommended as an innovative alternative learning method to improve the intelligence and cognitive functions of students with special needs in the SLB environment.
